African American, Hispanic, and Native American Women among Bachelors in Physical Sciences & Engineering: Results from 2003–2013 Data of the National Center for Education Statistics

Abstract

"This report highlights trends in the number and proportions of African American, Hispanic, and Native American women earning bachelor's degrees in the United States and their differences with all US bachelor recipients. The number of bachelor's degrees earned by African American, Hispanic, and Native American women grew by 65% compared to 36% growth among all US bachelor recipients between 2003 and 2013; however, this level of growth has not materialized in the physical science and engineering disciplines. For example, degrees earned by African American, Hispanic, and Native American grew by 40% in physics, but this lagged behind the 59% increase in physics for all US bachelors."
